Newspapers and Internet browsers are constantly broadcasting and bombarding us with nothing but bad news. Students killing students, people blowing others up, rape, murder, serial murders, suicide kidnapping, sexual abuse of children and the list goes on and on without end. In the midst of all this mayhem, there is a constant source of good news.
It is the gospel. The gospel is the good news from God telling us of his love for us. Stated in a nut shell, the message is, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." [John 3:16] The bad news we read or hear about everyday is the result of man’s sinful nature. The good news is that God has provided away deliverance.
This deliverance is possible to the person who recognizes he is a sinner, confesses his sin to God and asks God to forgive him of his sin and invites Jesus Christ to become the Lord of his life. When this happens the Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." [2 Corinthians 5:17] As new creature, we develop new thinking, new way of life and new priorities. Instead of being controlled by the thought process that produces bad news, we begin to live life differently reflecting the good news of the gospel.
Tired of all the bad
news? Why not read the good news? Open your Bible and begin reading the four
gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Read them all, all the way through for
the complete story of the good news. It will be life transforming.
